Committed 1 of the 7 sins yet again... - GLUTTONY (WARNING: LOTSA FOOD REVIEWS AHEAD!!)

2008 has been very sinful when it comes to food. Baby has been spoiling me by bringing me out to have nice food. From the most unexpected dining venue over at Turf Club with all the rich old foggies to the atas Raffles Long Bar Steakhouse (Food was pretty good but service sucks) to funky dining places like Hotstones. Eat until FAT FAT!

Baby's doing work right now and since I have nothing else to do, I shall blog about FOOD and make everyone hungry!



Ikoi at Miramar Hotel
Went out for dinner tonight with Baby at Ikoi over at Miramar Hotel. Very very full now! Baby says I eat like a monster and called me a wild boar. Made fun of me by mock whispering around him that I am very expensive to feed because I eat a lot. Hahahaha. Food was not too bad. Ate till the sashimi almost came out of my nostrils and ears. Hope to try the Jap buffet over at Tanjong Pagar that Yan recommended some day since Baby likes to eat Jap food~

Wahahaha, didn't take any picture except for this. Took it secretly while waiting for the soup to boil. LoL. This was our last dish. This really killed me. Only managed to eat the doufu and the golden mushroom. Hahaha. Overall the food was not too bad. Place was a little cramped though. Table was very small so we couldn't order too much at one go (alacarte buffet) and service was a little slow.. Servings were mostly 1 piece per order so you might want to order a few servings at a go if you are going to have more than a piece. But not too bad a piggying-out place if you like Jap food especially for those who dig sashimi. Free flow la. But I was a quite disappointed with the tonkatsu. I still very much prefer our favourite tonkatsu place over at Tonkichi. 7/10 chopsticks



Hotstones at Boat Quay
Baby cutting his steak at Hotstones. Food was ok.. Basically paying for the novelty of eating off the hotstone slab. Basically angmo Teppanyaki at exorbitant prices. Can try if you enjoy trying out new things. But prepare to shell out 50ish per person for food you cook yourself. 5/10 chopsticks because it's so damn expensive for the quality of food.



Long Bar Steakhouse and The Creamery at Raffles Hotel
Long Bar Steakhouse over at Raffles Hotel was nice. Very classy place with equally classy prices. Got a shock when I turned over the menu. Served things like Wagyu Beef at jaw dropping prices. They served very nice bread roll with herbs. Ate craploads of it while waiting for our food. Shared some grill thingie for 2 with Baby. The beef and chicken was FANTASTIC. The lamb was *hmmm* Shawn said it's good but I don't really like it cause I don't really like lamb. Satisfying dinner. :) Would very much love to try their steak on it's own some day. A must try at least once in a lifetime if you want to try western fine dining. But be prepared to pay a premium for the food. 8/10 chopsticks. Would give it a 10 if not for the price. Hahaha. I am very cheapskate, I know :p

The Creamery was quite the playground for the icecream lovers. Went there after our very filling dinner because Baby told his dad I had been craving for durian icecream for days but we couldn't find it. Everything we tried were good. I especially LOVED our Soursop ice cream. Lotsa toppings for you to choose from as well. You will be spoilt for choice with their wide selection of ice cream and toppings! 10/10 Who can resist dessert such as these =) Prices not very atas also. Reasonable. if you can afford Häagen-Dazs and Ben and Jerry's, you can afford this. Reasonable =)



Waraku at Central
Also had Waraku during one of our lunches. My 3rd time there and I keep ordering the same thing - some beef on some hotplate. I LIKEY. Anyway I don't recommend this for lunch. It's a bit of an overkill. 8/10 chopsticks



River City at Excelsior Hotel
Came here to have dim sum buffet brunch with our gaming friends. We ate SO MUCH I think the restaurant confirm "seet pun" (lugi). 10 of us has like prolly 5 or more prawn paste chicken wings each! That's like 50 chicken wings in all! 9/10 chopsticks. We ate shitloads of dim sum there. Worth the try if you like cheap but decent buffets. Bill came up to be around 15bucks per pax. Empty your stomachs before going!



Seafood Paradise at Defu Lane (Industrial Park) - Ju you should bring Zack to try this!
CRABS CRABS CRABS. VERY NICE CRABS. I didn't know such a nice place actually could serve rather good crabs. It wasn't some dirty coffeeshop (the few places that serves uber crabs are usually hot and stuffy and dirty) but a nice airy (or airc onditioned, depending on where you are seated.) location. We were there to celebrate his parents' anniversary (Didn't know until his parents toasted to the occasion -_-). Decent food. No idea how much it costs but I heard it's not very expensive. Cheaper than Melben I think. 7/10 chopsticks but a bit inaccessible.



Dian Xiao Er
Went with the whole gang for dinner here. Order some set dinner for 8 people. Lotsa dishes (7-9 dishes? Can't remember. Everyone had an individual bowl of soup too =)) Bill came up to around 20bucks per pax I think. Not too bad cause there was really a lot of food. Decent too. 7/10 chopsticks



Tonkichi at Suntec
I brought Baby there after he came back from Australia and since, Tonkichi was become a place where we will go back to once in a while when we crave for deliciously crispy tonkatsu (breaded fried pork fillet). To date I have had 6-8 lunches/dinner there and I am still not sick of their food. They serve YUMMILICIOUS tonkatsu. We loved it so much until Baby has the discount card. Hee hee. Prices is around 20ish for the katsu set. Quite alright considering the portions are very filling. The set comes with a side (pickles), main with loads of shredded lettuce (I usually just order the katsu set), rice, a miso soup as well as a serving of fruit (usually oranges). The sashimi there seems quite fresh too. Only tried once before and I am not a big fan so I am not an expert in this area. Hehe. But I do love their miso soup. Very tasty. Tried the branches at Suntec and Taka but I very much prefer the Suntec one over the Taka branch. 10/10 The only place I want to go back once in a while because it's good, and affordable. Plus, Baby likes it there =)



Golden Peony at Conrad Centennial Singapore
Had dim sum here with his family for one of the brunch. One word. UBER. Very fresh, very food. The appetizers there served was really nice too. Some caramelized cashew nuts. Best dim sum I have ever eaten in my life. Nothing was too oily. Everything was light-tasting but superbly flavourful. Damn good. And they look beautiful too. Dim sum fine dining if you want to categorize it. We went on a weekday lunch was told weekends has a bigger selection since weekdays was mostly catered for executive power lunches (for example, "phoenix claws" aka chicken legs was left out of the menu as executives don't chew on chicken legs during work lunches. Hahahaha. But true. Hahaha, would be a funny sight) 10/10 chopsticks. Dim sum alone is great, but great tasting dim sum, is even better!



Some chinese place in centrepoint opposite some prima restaurant
The most value for money horfun I have eaten so far. Big ass prawns, scallops, sotong make up this wonderful concotion of horfun. There were more seafood than horfun. Very very tasty! Worth every cent. Less than 15 per plate. their pi dan chok was nice too! Remember to ask them to take back the wet towels. Else you will be charged for it. 9/10 chopsticks.



Porridge at Chinatown
Supposely a very famous frog legs porridge place. But we went there to try the other porridge since we tried already tried the frog legs porridge before. Super crowded, very hot. Hahaha. I like the stewed pig intestines. Tasted great with our pork porridge. 7/10 chopsticks.



Lao Zhong Zhong Kopitiam at Macpherson (near old Jackson)
Besides the famous Lao Zhong Zhong Ngo Hiang, we were delightfully surprised at how good the kway zhup sold by the duck rice vendor was. Heard that the ba chor mee sold by the stall next door is good too. 10/10 chopsticks. I love nice kway zhup. Hard to find you see ;) Going to try this kway zhup that Chris has been raving about this Wed with them. Excited^^



Popeyes chicken at T3
Errr. T3 was nice, but the chicken wasn't. KFC over this anytime. The meat was very dry and quite tough. The "biscuit" was basically a salty muffin. Yucky. I don't like. 0/10 chopsticks. Not my tub of chicken. I rather eat at the foodcourt next door.



Ding Tai Feng at Wisma
Came here with Baby, Char and Kim just before Char went back to Perth. Ordered the usual. Baby was very sweet and gave my friends a treat. Must put in his little book on great deeds! Plus many points! Hehe. Staple includes the xiao long bao, dan chao fan and the fried dumpling. YUM YUM. 8/10 chopsticks. The long dinner queues can be very annoying. And Baby and I always eat like pigs here so the bill can run up to quite a hefty sum. But despite that, Baby brings me there once in a while to pig out still. He is so brave! =)



Fried Fish noodles at Bugis (next to Toni and Guys school)
Very good fish soup/rice. Their pai ku wang is also good!! Price is a little steep for fish soup (around 4.80 per bowl) but I guess it might be because it's air conditioned. Very tasty soup base. 9/10 chopsticks. Good stuff.



Ah Mei Cafe at AMK Hub
My prata costs only $1.20 I think for 2 decently sized pieces. Very very nice! I prefer this to the Thomson prata in actual fact. Nice and crispy on the outside, but the dough in between was light and moist. Very good. And it's dirt cheap! Baby had the Chicken Briyani and it's not too bad as well. 10/10 chopsticks for the price and taste! YUM YUM! I wanna go back there again! =)

Oh I bought Baby a new toy on Saturday =) Meet Crush the Australian surfer turtle! Our family is growing bigger =) Oh, and Schtoppi bit Crush's head today =( Gave me a shock ><

Leon's dad got us tickets so off we went to the Singapore Airshow 2008 with his aunt and dad! It's held at the new facility over at Changi Exhibition Centre. Brilliant site. And since it's a trade day, I don't think kids are allowed in. Saw some family with a kid getting entry rejected. So.. yeah.. no kids running around.


Passes and tickets XD Fancy some aircraft shopping? :)


During the acrobatics performance. To watch these jets soar across the skyline makes me feel like all things are possible. :)

A very enriching experience. Was glad I went despite the scorching heat! Very fun! His dad was telling us all about the planes and his experiences (he used to be a fighter pilot as well as trainer) and to have them fly over me makes me feel extremely liberated.

Went to Ikea a couple of times too. My favourite. Baby is the best! Took me there to eat a couple of times because it's my favourite!


Went to the Turfclub during Chu 2. AMAZING EXPERIENCE. His dad had invitations and brought us there to look see =) Committee Box so we watch the races in STYLE with all the horse owners and big bosses! And we shared the same table with Bryan Wong and Patricia Mok!!! They were sitting 2 seats from me =D They were the emcees for the day. The food wasn't very good though. Anyway quite an experience to watch my first races in the comfort of plush leather seats and red wine. And the committee box is just at where the finish line is. SHIOKS! That is life man!! Anyway Baby won almost $200 or so from less than $20 principal sum. Hahaha. Clever boy =) I lost $10 bucks. Hahaha.

Okay la. Time to go back to WoW. Yeah. Playing a new game now. Not that new since I played it 2-3 years back.. But it's with baby so it makes everything seem new =) Level 47 Priest now =)
